Lifhahs that threaten your health: the usual ways to fight the heat were dangerous
Knowing how to deal with heat on the network can be life-threatening. Experts advise against making homemade air conditioners at home.
In hot weather, people often seek various ways to stay cool. TikTok can find many tips on how to turn a regular fan into a makeshift conditioner. However, experts caution that some of these methods can be highly hazardous.
Electric Safety First experts recommend avoiding all life hacks that contain water or ice, as this combination is hazardous for electricity.
“Water and electricity are a bad combination. Everything that is frozen will eventually melt, and water can get to the fan. This liquid is capable of getting not only into the engine, but also into the socket, which significantly increases the risk of electric shock,” said the technical director, Luke Osborne.
Common tips on TikTok include attaching frozen bottles filled with water to the fan. Although this may seem an effective method to create coolness, there may be serious problems in the future.
“This so-called Lifehack is not only dangerous but also low efficiency,” he added.
The frozen water will eventually melt, and condensation may appear on the surface of the bottles. Water drops can run the risk of getting on the electric motor of the fan, which could lead to a short circuit or electric shock.
“In addition, the weight of frozen bottles creates an additional load on the fan, which can lead to overloading the engine and, as a consequence, its breakdown,” Osborne warned.
