Michael Douglas has signaled a possible end to his career after nearly 60 years in cinema

Michael Douglas, an American actor and producer, announced the end of his career. This became known during his speech at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

This event was organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the legendary film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, which Douglas produced. He said that he does not plan to return to the cinema.

“I deliberately did not work since 2022, because I realized that it was time to stop. I worked for almost 60 years, and I do not want to be the one who dies on the set,” the actor shared.

His last project was the historical series “Franklin” from Apple TV+, which was filmed in 2022 and is scheduled for a 2024 premiere. In this series, Douglas played one of the leading roles – Benjamin Franklin.

The actor said he enjoys watching his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones’ career. While he hasn’t announced his retirement, he has no immediate plans to return to acting.

“I’m happy to take a break. I don’t have any specific plans, but I can’t say I’m retired. If an interesting opportunity arises, I would come back. And for now, I’m quite happy,” Michael Douglas summed up.
