The leader of the Kyiv choir is accused of causing budget losses of UAH 1.9 million
The prosecutor’s office has suspected the municipal cultural institution “Municipal Academic Chamber Choir “Kyiv of official negligence, which caused significant financial losses to the capital’s budget.
According to the Kyiv prosecutor’s office, the investigation revealed that the head of the institution signed an agreement with a private company to build an office building with a parking lot on a land plot on Laboratornaya Street, which belongs to the choir. According to the original terms, the investor was to cover the costs of renting this land.
However, the agreement was later amended, as a result of which the clause regarding the investor’s obligation to pay rent was removed. Despite these changes, the director did not initiate a review of the agreement and did not take any measures to stop the costs of renting the land used by the investor.
As a result, about 1.9 million hryvnias were spent from the capital’s budget on renting a plot of land that the municipal institution did not use. The artistic director of the choir was suspected under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (official negligence that caused grave consequences). This article provides for imprisonment for up to five years, with the possibility of a ban on holding office for up to three years, as well as the imposition of a fine.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.
