Trump's secondary sanctions against Russia can quickly end the war

The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, in a conversation with the British publication The Times, stated that the Donald Trump administration has the opportunity to end the war in Ukraine by the end of 2025, provided that tough secondary sanctions are imposed, especially against buyers of Russian oil.

Yermak noted that significant economic pressure from the United States on Russia and its key trading partners, such as China and India, could prompt the Kremlin to reconsider its plans and halt aggressive actions. He emphasized that it is these sanctions that will block significant financial flows necessary for waging the war.

“If Trump introduces secondary sanctions, he will be able to end the war by the end of the year,” Yermak noted.

He also added that only comprehensive and persistent pressure on the Russian economy, particularly through restrictions on countries that import Russian oil, can significantly alter the course of the war.

Yermak expressed hope that the US president will implement measures that will strengthen Ukraine’s position in the international arena and accelerate the end of the conflict.
