Updated without Russian parts: Antonov improves An-124 Ruslan
Antonov JSC Completes Modernization of An-124-100
Antonov JSC announced the successful completion of a large-scale modernization of the An-124-100 aircraft, known worldwide as Ruslan. The aircraft, serial number 0706, was transferred to Germany on July 11, 2025.
The modernization project commenced in 2021 and involved the complete replacement of key parts previously manufactured in Russia with high-quality counterparts from Ukrainian and Western production. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022, work had to be suspended as the aircraft was dismantled, which complicated the restoration process.
Despite numerous challenges, the Antonov team resumed the project, completing the modernization in June 2025. The transfer of the updated Ruslan to Germany became a symbol of the professionalism and resilience of Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers.
The updated aircraft is preparing to perform international flights, representing Ukrainian aviation on the world stage. All Antonov JSC aircraft are currently in a safe condition, as per the company’s internal protocols.
