Utility Tariff Changes in August: Despite Stability, Bills May Increase

There are no plans to adjust the tariffs for basic utilities in August, but their costs may increase. This is due to increased energy consumption during the warm weather period.

The cost of gas for the population remains at UAH 7.96 per cubic meter in August. The vast majority of consumers, namely about 98%, continue to pay at the old tariff, having pledged to adhere to it until April 2026.

The electricity tariff also attracts attention, which remained unchanged at UAH 4.32 per kWh. However, studies show that consumers may notice an increase in bills due to increased use of air conditioners and other cooling devices on hot days.

Those with dual-zone meters can save money by using electricity at night (from 23:00 to 07:00) at a reduced rate of UAH 2.16 per kWh.

According to Government Resolution No. 480 of April 29, 2025, the current plan is to maintain the existing electricity tariffs at least until October. However, it remains unknown whether changes will occur before the winter season.

It is also worth noting that Ukrainians receive gas bills even if they did not use it, and checks will be carried out among beneficiaries who receive utility discounts. These topics are actively discussed, and new investigations into abuses in this area are emerging.
