Russians focused on recruiting retirees: they attract older people more often than teenagers
Critical situation: Russian special services are intensifying their schemes, trying to involve not only young people, but also pensioners in their manipulations.
According to the SBU, new blackmail tools are spreading across Ukraine, in particular through fake calls supposedly for interrogation.
One of the pensioners received a notification about a summons to the SBU.
Then he received a call from a so-called “investigator” who offered to “help close the case”, dictating various instructions – from handing over a suspicious package to transferring money to a strange card, as well as installing programs for “communication”. These actions are part of the arsenal of Russian special services, which masquerade as Ukrainian law enforcement officers. They intend to collect information, intimidate, and use people in their sabotage.
This case is not isolated. Similar situations can affect anyone, including pensioners, students, and entrepreneurs. If you have an open profile on social networks, have made online purchases, or collaborated with volunteers, the probability of finding yourself under the gun is high. In a state of stress or fear, it is easy to lose your vigilance and believe a deception.
Russia actively uses manipulation strategies to sow panic and force Ukrainians to act against their interests. This is part of the hybrid war that it has been waging since 2014, constantly improving its methods.
The Security Service of Ukraine emphasizes that it does not summon individuals via instant messengers or require the installation of third-party programs. If you have any doubts, it is recommended to seek information via the official chatbot or by phone. Remember: cooperation with Russian agents can lead to serious consequences, including imprisonment. It is also important to remind parents about the dangers of recruiting children, as teenagers become potential targets for the enemy.
