Minsk reports downing of drone

On the night of July 29, an unknown uncrewed aerial vehicle was shot down in the sky over Minsk.

The Belarusian Ministry of Defense reported this. According to the agency, air defense units on duty detected and stopped the flight of an unknown object, which was later identified as a drone. As a result of the intervention of electronic warfare at 02:33, the drone crashed in the territory of house No. 72 on Matusevycha Street. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The Ministry of Defense noted that additional measures are being taken to strengthen airspace control, and the situation is currently being checked.

According to the Zerkalo publication, eyewitnesses said that the drone crashed into a house, after which it fell on a parked car and exploded. The video obtained by the editorial office shows how, at first, a sound resembling a moped is heard in the courtyard of house No. 72 at night, and then a powerful explosion. Debris fell to the ground, and sparks could be seen; several more explosions followed near the cars.

Eyewitnesses also reported that the police arrived at the scene only 25 minutes later, after which everyone present was dispersed.

In addition, it is noted that Russian drones, which are actively attacking Ukraine, are also penetrating the airspace of Belarus. In the first week of July alone, no less than 59 such incidents were recorded, which is a record. For comparison, in June, there were only 17 of them.
