Drones attacked Russia’s strategic logistics center in Rostov region

On the night of July 29, the city of Salsk in the Rostov region of Russia was the target of a massive drone attack. A vital railway hub and a freight train, which, according to reports, may have been transporting fuel and lubricants, came under fire. As a result of the attack, a large fire broke out at the station, which led to the suspension of train traffic and the transfer of passenger trains to a safe distance. Two cars of the Novokuznetsk-Kislovodsk train were also damaged.

Acting Governor of the Rostov region Yuriy Slyusar confirmed these facts. Salsk is an important logistics center for transporting resources, fuel, and ammunition to the front in the Donetsk region, as well as to the temporarily occupied territories, in particular, Crimea and the Zaporizhia region.

The Dviyna traction substation in the village of Orlovsky was also attacked by drones, which led to power outages on the Volgograd-Salsk railway section.

Local authorities report the death of one man who was in a car at the time of the attack. Forty-five rescuers and 12 pieces of equipment were involved in eliminating the consequences of the fire.

Thus, this attack dealt a severe blow to Russia’s critical railway infrastructure, which was actively used to reinforce military formations on the Ukrainian front.
