Wallets are bursting: five-figure sums are being paid for Ukrainian 5 kopecks
The Ukrainian 5-kopeck coin, which was once commonly found in the pockets and wallets of Ukrainians, can now be worth a considerable amount. Experts on the specialized portal “Coins-Berry” emphasize that only a small number of coins issued in the first years of Ukraine’s independence are of real value. This is due to production inaccuracies at the mint, resulting in exceptional specimens with an unusual notch on the band, which makes them valuable.
In particular, we are talking about a rare version of the 5-kopeck coin of 1992 with the marking 1.1ААк. Collectors are willing to pay up to 10 thousand hryvnias for this coin.
To identify this valuable unit, pay attention to the following features:
a trident with a thickened middle tooth;
a unit in the date with a characteristic tail;
a cluster No. 2 in the form of a rectangular triangle;
a band with a large notch.
Numismatic experts note that it is the 5 kopecks with a large notch on the band that are valuable. On the other hand, if the notch is smaller, it is a 1.1ААм variety, which does not represent a collector’s value.
So, before you give up old coins, check them carefully – the opportunity to find a real treasure, invisible at first glance, can significantly enrich you.
Earlier, it was reported about the value of 50 kopecks; it is worth looking into your pockets. It was also indicated that new rules for cash payments may be introduced in Ukraine so that kopecks may become irrelevant. And even earlier, it was emphasized that some coins with a denomination of 1 hryvnia can cost from 11,000 to 40,000 hryvnias.
