Financial status of the SEC head’s family: salary, bonuses and cash – details from the media
Mykhailo Babenko, head of the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, has significantly increased his financial assets over the past two years. In 2022, he purchased a new Volkswagen Touareg for over 1.2 million hryvnias. In 2023, real estate in the United States was declared.
In the same year, Babenko’s family received a residential building with an area of 160 square meters in the United States for use. Officially, the owner of this property is an American, G.A. Zuluaga M. Trustees Marin, but the declaration indicates that the official’s family has the right to use this property.
This man also has ties to the company BBL Group LLC, registered in Florida in 2023. The co-owner of the company is Mykhailo Babenko’s wife, Olena Babenko.
In addition to American real estate, the declaration also mentions other properties. Among them is an apartment with an area of 124 square meters in Crimea and a house with an area of over 311 square meters in Ivankiv, which is one of the most expensive locations in the Kyiv region.
Among the declared valuables were luxury Swiss watches by the brands Ulysse Nardin, Zenith, and Breitling (the latter model belongs to the wife). Each of these watches costs from 300 to 450 thousand hryvnias, but the exact prices are not specified in the declaration.
In addition, the official’s wife indicated a sable fur coat and jewelry, the value of which was also not disclosed.
The financial assets section lists accounts in Ukrainian and foreign banks. Mykhailo Babenko has $1,600 in the American Fifth Third Bank, and his wife owns almost $14,000 in CHASE Bank. In Ukraine, they use the services of PrivatBank and Ukrgasbank.
According to the declaration, the official received financial support for 4.5 million hryvnias from the company “Energotrade Company”.
The Babenk family keeps significant amounts of cash. Mykhailo has 485 thousand dollars, 34 thousand euros, and 480 thousand hryvnias, and his wife has another 397 thousand US dollars.
In 2024, the director of the SEC earned about 1.7 million hryvnias. In 2025, the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko awarded him a bonus twice, first by 585 thousand hryvnias in April, and then by another 293 thousand in May.
The Babenk family is raising four children. Daughter Anna recently graduated from university and actively shares photos from vacation trips, where recognizable shoe brands and premium cars are visible.
According to information disclosed by journalists, Mykhailo Babenko may be involved in the unofficial sale of the drug “Ozempic” to wealthy clients. The likelihood of a conflict of interest is explained by the fact that he previously owned a significant share of a distribution company associated with the manufacturer of this drug.
