PFU warns of 20% pension deduction for pensioners

Pensioners in Ukraine may lose part of their payments if they do not follow specific rules, as the Pension Fund of Ukraine warns.

Untimely notification of changes in personal data can lead to withholding up to 20% of their pension. Most often, such problems arise when pensioners fail to notify the relevant authorities of a change of residence, work, or the obtaining of a new passport within 10 days. As a result, an overpayment may occur, which will have to be returned.

If, due to the delay in submitting information, a pensioner receives excess funds, the Pension Fund of Ukraine will initiate the debt collection process: 20% will be withheld from the monthly pension until the debt is fully repaid.

In addition, pensioners should remember the need to have a pension certificate when using free travel on public transport. The absence of this document may result in a fine.

Experts urge pensioners to be careful with bureaucratic requirements. Even a minor mistake or forgetfulness can have serious financial consequences. It is essential to promptly notify the Pension Fund of all changes to ensure stable payments and economic security in old age.
