Mobile operator will transfer all data to the police: who will be subject to instant tracking

Vodafone subscribers may not yet be aware that, starting in 2025, their mobile operator will be part of a system enabling police to track individuals’ locations. The company has officially announced that all users will be connected to the new Telescope SMS platform, which works in cooperation with the National Police.

In the event of a minor’s disappearance, the police will be able to quickly send SMS messages to people who are in the closest area to the scene of the incident. This can play a critical role, because in such situations every minute counts.

Thanks to the Telescope platform, law enforcement will get real access to information about the location of subscribers. The system will be able to determine which people are within a certain radius, taking into account age, number type, geolocation, and send targeted messages. This is not just spam mailings, but a serious tool for geolocation monitoring.

Vodafone has signed a formal memorandum with the police, confirming that the technology will become part of the state’s emergency response mechanisms. This is especially important when searching for missing children. Messages can contain not only general information, but also details such as a description of appearance, clothing, and last known location.

The National Police urge citizens to pay attention to such SMS, because even if you have not seen anything suspicious, your message may be critically important. In the first hours of the search, the maximum possible resource is involved – from patrol officers to random witnesses with phones.

On the one hand, this is an opportunity to save a child, and on the other hand, it is an indicator that your mobile number is no longer just your own. Now your movements can be monitored, regardless of the purpose – social-humanitarian or controlling.
