“Invisible” People’s Deputy: 85% of Zhytomyr Region Residents Do Not Notice the Results of Kuzmins’ Work, According to Survey Data

Poll in Chudniv and Romaniv: Is the MP doing nothing for the community?

On August 8, StopKor activists conducted a poll in the towns of Chudniv and Romaniv, where the constituency of People’s Deputy Serhiy Kuzminykh, a figure in the NABU corruption case, is located. The results were impressive: about 85% of residents could not name their representative in parliament.

During a survey near the central market of Chudniv, people could not even remember whether they had an MP. “Do we have an MP?” one of the workers asked ironically. At the same time, residents pointed out numerous problems that have remained unregulated for years.

Problems without solutions

In Chudniv, residents are concerned about the critical condition of the roads, a broken bridge, and the lack of places for youth to relax. The situation in medicine is even worse: closed departments, a shortage of ambulances, and patients are given consultations by phone, directing them to Zhytomyr.

“We have appealed to the deputy for help, but have not received any response,” said a hospital employee. Residents also demand the creation of a psychological rehabilitation center, and point to poor water quality and lighting.

Transportation is also a problem: the bus to the regional center runs only on market days, leaving people unable to get to work on other days.

The situation in Romaniv is no better: here, residents are faced with corruption schemes related to land plots, high taxes for farmers, and the closure of state institutions.

Deputy activity in numbers

A study of Serhiy Kuzminykh’s electronic office revealed that, in almost six years of work in parliament, he spoke only 10 times, with all his speeches focusing on healthcare, yet not a single word was addressed to the district’s problems.

The statistics of deputy requests are impressive: for the entire time, Kuzminykh submitted only seven requests, primarily related to the protection of a tourist camp in Zhytomyr. After that, his former assistant became the head of the institution.

Questionable decisions and court cases

In addition, the deputy voted to eliminate the independence of the NABU and the SAPO, supporting a scandalous bill. This raises questions, especially against the background of his court case for alleged corruption.

In September 2022, the NABU revealed that Kuzminykh may have received a bribe of 558 thousand hryvnias by helping private companies conclude contracts with the hospital. At the same time, the deputy systematically misses court hearings – out of 86 appointed, 22 did not take place due to his absence.

Survey findings

The results of the study show that voters are well aware of their problems, but have no idea about their deputy, who seems to ignore his duties, focusing on his interests instead of serving his community.
