Roundtable discussion within the framework of the “How are you?” program dedicated to the rehabilitation of defenders

A roundtable discussion was held in Ternopil on supporting the mental health of veterans. The event was attended by representatives of the veteran space “Unbreakable in Spirit”, as well as specialists from the Department of the Main Inspection and Human Rights, psychologists of the Main Directorate of the National Police, and regional coordinators of the “How are you?” program.

During the discussion, the participants noted that the process of adapting veterans to civilian life requires attention not only to their physical but also to their psychological state.

Supporting the mental health of veterans is a key priority for all law enforcement agencies, including the security police. The return of defenders to peaceful life requires a comprehensive approach, including psychological support at all stages of their recovery, which complements medical care, noted the head of the Security Police Department, Oleksiy Bereznevych.

Initiatives such as the “How are you?” program contribute to the creation of a reliable support system for those who gave a part of themselves for the sake of our security. The Department of Security Police is ready to cooperate with all stakeholders to provide quality support to veterans.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged experiences, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive support: social, legal, informational, psychological, and medical. They also noted the need to form a unified system of veteran policy.

Program coordinator Lesya Kosovska presented the results of the “How are you?” project and introduced the attendees to the thematic publications created within the framework of the initiative.

This meeting was part of the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?” and the “Point of Psychological Practices” project.
