Scandalous deals: the company of the mother of People’s Deputy Ihor Molotok supplied fortifications to Sumy region with high markups

One of the companies that sold goods with a high markup is registered in the name of the mother of the people’s deputy.

Since the beginning of 2024, the government has allocated more than 4 billion hryvnias to strengthen defensive positions in the Sumy and Zaporizhia regions. A significant part of these funds went to regional administrations, which concluded agreements with contracting organizations for the construction of fortifications.

Journalists analyzed the financial component of the construction of fortifications. They found that in several regions, in particular in Sumy and Zaporizhia, the state could lose tens of millions of hryvnias.

The company “TD “Dynasty” received about 126 million hryvnias to provide defensive lines in the Sumy region, of which more than 40 million hryvnias were spent on the purchase of materials from the company “Shoststroyresurs”. This company is registered in the name of the 90-year-old mother of the people’s deputy Ihor Molotok. As it turned out, Shoststroyresurs purchased materials from the manufacturer and resold them to TD Dynasty with a significant markup.

The journalists were brought to Molotok by another company, Nord Trek LLC, from which the contractor purchased anti-tank pyramids. According to the MP’s declaration, this company pays the salary of his cohabitant. The journalists calculated that in this way the state budget could have suffered losses of at least 9.5 million hryvnias.

Ihor Molotok has been a People’s Deputy since 2012, first as a member of the Party of Regions, and now as a representative of the deputy group “For the Future”. In 2019, he won the elections to the Rada as a majoritarian candidate from the Sumy region, and in parliament, he is a member of the budget committee.

In response to a journalist’s inquiry, Molotok stated that he did not benefit from the activities of the companies above, did not influence the approval of orders for the construction of fortifications, and did not have information about the activities of other individuals.
