Pensions in Ukraine in 2025: what to expect in the fall and who will receive additional payments in August

In 2025, Ukrainian pensioners will have to face a situation where the main increase in pensions occurred back in March, during the traditional annual indexation.

No new increases to the minimum pension are planned for August, and positive changes in this area should not be expected in the near future.

According to Daria Marchak, First Deputy Minister of Social Policy, the law stipulates that pension indexation is carried out only once a year, in March. Multiple increases during the year are not planned. If the financial condition of the Pension Fund improves, the state may consider additional measures to support it, but this will depend on the Cabinet of Ministers.

Currently, the minimum pension is UAH 3,758 for pensioners over 65 years of age with a whole insurance experience who are not working. Other categories receive different payments depending on age, length of service, and employment status:

– Pensioners aged 70-80 with full service or 75-80 with minimum service receive – UAH 3,613;

– Pensioners with disability of group I from 70 years old – UAH 3,323;

– Non-working pensioners – UAH 3,038;

– Working pensioners – at least UAH 2,361 (subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their working capacity).

It is also worth noting that until August 24, 2025, one-time cash payments are provided for specific categories of citizens. This is not indexation, but traditional annual support, which is enshrined in the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution.

Here is who these additional payments are for:

– 3,100 UAH — to persons with special merits before the Motherland, disabled people of the I group of war, former minor prisoners of concentration camps;

– 2,900 UAH — to disabled people of the II group of the specified categories;

– 2,700 UAH — to disabled people of the III group;

– 1,000 UAH — to participants in hostilities, victims of the Revolution of Dignity, and children of prisoners;

– 650 UAH — to families of deceased veterans, as well as to spouses of disabled people of war who have not remarried;

– 450 UAH — to participants in the war, former prisoners of concentration camps, and children of partisans.

Pensioners will receive this money along with their pension, without the need to submit additional applications. Those who are not pensioners and do not work should contact the territorial bodies of the Pension Fund to receive the payment.

We remind you that the right to subsidies must be confirmed if a person contacts the Pension Fund within one month.
