Secrets from the printer: declassified documents about Trump-Putin talks

Secret US State Department documents revealing details of Donald Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin were found in an Alaskan hotel.

On the morning of Friday, August 15, classified documents were accidentally left in a printer at the Captain Cook Hotel, which is located near the business center where the meeting was held. Three visitors to the establishment came across eight pages of important information.

The first page contained the agenda for the event, which was held at the base in Anchorage, as well as information about the gift that Trump planned to give Putin – a bald eagle statuette.

The White House has already commented on the incident. The deputy press secretary noted that the found documents do not pose a security threat, comparing them to a lunch menu. The State Department refrained from commenting.

The discovered documents also included the names and contacts of three American representatives, as well as data on 13 US and Russian officials. In some cases, phonetic errors were noted in the correct pronunciation of the names of Russian figures.

The planned lunch in honor of Putin included three dishes: a green salad, filet mignon with halibut, and crème brûlée. However, according to available information, the lunch was canceled.

Experts highlighted serious shortcomings in the organization of security, indicating the inadmissibility of leaving documents in an accessible place. This only highlights the security issues that existed during the Trump administration.

This case became another in a series of incidents indicating problems in ensuring security in the administration.
