”Shameful and like a fan”: Schwarzenegger spoke about Trump’s behavior during a press conference
Arnold Schwarzenegger has harshly criticized US President Donald Trump for his behavior during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The actor’s video message has become a topic of discussion in the media.
Schwarzenegger described the press conference that followed the meeting as “shameful.” He compared Trump to a “rag” and a “fanboy” and jokingly asked when the US president would ask Putin for an autograph or take a selfie with him.
According to him, Trump betrayed the American intelligence services, the judicial system, and, most importantly, his country. Schwarzenegger stressed that such an act by the president is absolutely unacceptable. The actor also recalled the importance of Ronald Reagan’s words, who called on Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall, and asked where such powerful statements are now.
The meeting and press conference have become scandalous moments in Trump’s image, and Schwarzenegger was not the only one who expressed a negative opinion of his actions.
“When Trump had the opportunity to defend our intelligence services, I was very disappointed that he compared them to what Putin said,” said Republican Senator Bob Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
A similar position was expressed by Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina. “Trump did not take the opportunity to hold Russia accountable for interfering in the 2016 election and to warn about the threats to future elections clearly,” he wrote on his account.
Following the summit, Trump, along with Zelensky and European leaders, discussed steps to achieve a lasting peace in Ukraine.
