Slovak radical Švec expressed his opinion on the possible “division” of Transcarpathia

In Slovakia, printed publications with a provocative headline have begun to be distributed: “Má Slovensko právo náročovať si územie Podkarpatskej Rusi?” (“Does Slovakia have the right to claim the territory of Subcarpathian Rus?”).

This information was published by journalist Vitaliy Glagola on his Telegram channel, noting that the material raised concerns due to the presence of obviously provocative and separatist messages aimed at sowing discord between Ukraine and its neighbors.

The author of the material is radical politician Robert Shvets, who claims that if Ukraine “does not survive the war,” Transcarpathia could be divided between Slovakia and Hungary. To substantiate his position, he mentions “historical rights” from the times of Great Moravia, and calls those who disagree with him “liars.”

Švets is known for his far-right and pro-Russian views, advocating for Slovakia to withdraw from NATO and the EU. He also quotes the collaborationist president of World War II, Josef Tiso, who handed over control of the country to Hitler.

Experts consider such publications to be part of an information sabotage aimed at destabilizing the region and worsening relations between Ukraine and Slovakia. At the same time, it is worth emphasizing that Slovakia has no official territorial claims to Ukraine. Historically, Subcarpathian Rus had an autonomous status within Czechoslovakia from 1919 to 1939; however, such topics are now raised only by marginal political groups.
