The amount of money needed to cross the Polish border to avoid returning home

Ukrainians are subject to detailed checks at the Polish border. In addition to standard customs and passport procedures, border guards have the right to assess the financial capabilities of travelers, reports the Migrant Info portal.

Border guards try to make sure that foreigners have enough money to support themselves during their stay in Poland.

How much money is needed?

It is worth noting that not all Ukrainians undergo financial status checks, as this procedure is not mandatory. However, the border can be turned into a “monitoring point” for specific individuals at the discretion of border guards. If a traveler does not have the necessary amount (in cash or on cards), they may be refused entry to the border.

Citizens of Ukraine and other countries must have sufficient funds to cover expenses during their stay abroad and to return home:

If the trip does not exceed 4 days, you must have 300 PLN.

If the trip lasts longer than 4 days, you must have 75 PLN for each day of stay.
It is also worth clarifying that the presence of zlotys is not mandatory; it is essential to have money in any currency.

If a traveler does not have a return ticket, they need to have an additional 200 zlotys to cover expenses (for Ukrainians and other neighbors of Poland).

“A foreigner entering Poland for study, research, or work must have at least 1,270 zlotys for the first two months of stay,” the portal says.

Cash is not mandatory, but border guards may not take into account funds in bank accounts if they are shown via mobile applications. It is recommended to obtain a bank statement to confirm financial capacity.

Who can avoid a financial check?

Foreigners who fall into the following categories are exempt from confirming financial capacity:

Persons with residence cards;

persons with work visas;

Persons with a Pole’s card.
In particular, the availability of funds is not checked for travelers who arrived at the invitation with financial obligations, as well as for those who participate in rescue operations.

Additionally, it was previously reported that Ukrainians who are not eligible for a subsidy can receive separate financial assistance for utilities. Additionally, new requirements have been introduced in Polish universities for Ukrainian students during the admission campaign.

In addition, forecasts were made regarding potato prices in the autumn period and possible changes in the agricultural market.
