Eight Ukrainian films compete for the right to be presented at the Oscars

Eight Ukrainian films have been nominated for the prestigious Oscar competition, the Ukrainian Oscar Committee announced.

Film critics have already begun discussing possible favorites. Among the contenders are both new and experienced directors who have previously won international awards.

The following films have been included in the list:

• “2000 Meters to Andriyivka”, directed by Mstislav Chernov

• “Bucha”, directed by Stanislav Tiunov

• “Divia”, directed by Dmytro Hreshko

• “Caution! Life Continues”, directed by Anton Shtuka

• “One Summer in Ukraine”, directed by Volodymyr Tykhy

• “Lifting Force”, directed by Oleksandr Stratienko

• “Steppe”, directed by Maryna Vroda

• “Timeline”, directed by Kateryna Gornostay

The results of the film selection to represent Ukraine at the awards will be announced on August 28.

Experts pay special attention to the film by Mstislav Chernov. In 2024, he won an Oscar for the documentary “20 Days in Mariupol”, which was Ukraine’s first success at the award above.
