Public transport fares will increase in August: innovations and their localization

In Rivne, discussions have resumed regarding a potential increase in public transportation fares. Residents are actively considering new price proposals that could affect their daily lives.

According to information released by the city council, the changes could affect both trolleybuses and minibuses. The planned fare increase will start on August 1. The cost of a trolleybus fare could increase to 15 hryvnias, and that of a minibus fare could increase to 18 hryvnias. This proposal has generated widespread resonance among residents. Some believe that the increase in fuel and spare parts prices justifies the new fares. Others express concerns that such changes will create an additional financial burden, especially for pensioners and low-income families.

Residents hope that the quality of transportation will also improve along with the price increase, which may include enhanced ventilation, increased cabin cleanliness, and fleet renewal.

The transport department noted that such a decision is due to economic circumstances. According to the department, the costs of transport services are growing, and without a revision of tariffs, the transport sector may find itself in a difficult situation. Other cities are cited as examples: in Lutsk, fares were raised to 15 hryvnias back in 2022, and in Vinnytsia and Poltava, changes took place last year.

It should be noted that the final decision on the tariff increase has not yet been made – the city executive committee has yet to hold a meeting where they can consider alternative proposals or cancel the increase, depending on new financial calculations or other recommendations.
