Murder in Lviv: Political activist Andriy Parubiy killed
Today, August 30, 2025, around noon, a shooting occurred in the Sykhiv district of Lviv, as a result of which a well-known public and political figure, Andriy Parubiy, died. Preliminary data from the National Police indicate that the victim received injuries incompatible with life and died at the scene of the crime. Law enforcement agencies are establishing all the details of the tragedy, involving investigative and operational groups, the police of the Lviv region, as well as the Security Service of Ukraine. Measures are being taken to identify the shooter and his whereabouts; the information will be made public in accordance with criminal procedural legislation.
According to local media, the likely attacker could have been a courier of the Glovo delivery service, who was making a delivery at the time of the shooting. It is known that Andriy Parubiy was shot eight times. An eyewitness reported that the attacker hid a gun in his bag and was wearing a black helmet with yellow elements, moving on an electric bicycle.
A plan for interception has been introduced in the Lviv region. The local regional administration has confirmed the identity of the deceased, Andriy Parubiy. The motives of the crime and the personal data of the suspect are being clarified.
Andriy Parubiy (1971–2025) was a prominent Ukrainian politician who served as the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from 2016 to 2019. He also served as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. He was actively involved in the country’s defense and security issues, becoming an essential figure in the development of parliamentarism and national security.
Law enforcement officers continue to work at the scene, taking all necessary measures to detain the criminal.
