Ukrposhta raises parcel prices: which items will be subject to the increase

Ukrposhta reported that postal services to the United States will continue to operate thanks to cooperation with international partners, including Zonos, although shipments will be subject to increased tariffs.

The public is informed that, as of August 29, the de minimis norm, which allowed duty-free delivery of goods worth up to $800, will be canceled in the United States. For this reason, many European postal operators have suspended shipments to prepare for new procedures and requirements.

To cover the costs of attracting specialists for customs clearance of parcels, the cost of delivery to the United States will increase by an average of $1.5–3, depending on the weight and category of the package. At the same time, no new additional fees will be introduced, unlike many private companies.

According to the current changes, the prices of Ukrainian goods for buyers in the United States may increase by approximately 10%, which corresponds to the customs tariff for Ukraine. For comparison, goods from other European countries may increase in price by 15% or more.

All commercial shipments must be subject to these new rules. The only exceptions are letters, newspapers, postcards, as well as gifts and social parcels worth up to $100.

Ukrposhta emphasized that attempts to declare a parcel as a gift or to understate its value may result in delays or returns. Customs declarations CN22/23 must indicate that this is a commercial item, as well as indicate the real value and the correct product code.

Recall that previously, Ukrainians could receive larger amounts into their accounts.
