Changes in the cheese market: rising prices

The Ukrainian cheese industry is entering the off-season, with demand expected to pick up at the end of the summer. However, producers are facing new challenges: rising raw material prices could push domestic cheese prices up, according to agromonitoring reports.

This is currently opening up new opportunities for imported goods on the market. The cost of domestic cheese is increasing the popularity of European products among Ukrainian consumers, who often find them at more favorable prices. Thus, in July, imports of hard and semi-hard cheeses increased by 12% compared to the same period last year.

Exports

Despite the challenges of the domestic market, Ukrainian cheese producers are demonstrating significant export growth. In July, deliveries of semi-hard cheeses increased by 28% compared to the same month last year.

Exports of cheese products have doubled, which, according to experts, became possible due to the decrease in the competitiveness of Russian cheeses in the markets of Central Asia, opening up new prospects for Ukrainian producers.

Prospects

Experts believe that the market situation remains unstable. High price growth in the domestic market may lead to a loss of consumers and an increase in import volumes. In this regard, producers are advised to adhere to a well-considered strategy and avoid aggressive pricing approaches.
