Fire station in Kyiv region: suspicion of embezzlement of UAH 3.7 million from the State Emergency Service

The former head of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kyiv region has been identified as a suspect in a criminal investigation. He is charged with large-scale embezzlement of state funds, as well as forgery of documents.

According to the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, in April 2023, rescuers signed an agreement with a private contractor to build a fire station in the village of Stari Petrivtsi, Vyshhorod district. However, even though the work was only partially completed, the former head of the State Emergency Service signed acts on the allegedly completed stages of construction in June, September, and October 2023. This allowed the contracting organization to receive more than 11 million hryvnias from the budget.

According to the investigation, approximately 3.7 million hryvnias of this amount were misappropriated, resulting in significant losses to the state. Currently, under the leadership of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the former head has been charged with embezzlement of property and official forgery, as outlined in Articles 191 and 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The case has been transferred to the court for consideration of further actions against the suspect.
