Significant fines and the threat of deprivation of rights: what violations are punishable for drivers

Fans of high-speed driving should exercise caution, as their passion can lead to serious consequences, including the loss of their driving privileges. The new bill provides for a significant increase in fines and strict control over modified cars.

Bill No. 9564, registered in the Verkhovna Rada, contains penalties for drivers who drift in residential areas or install sports mufflers without certification. These actions are subject to severe fines and possible loss of driver’s licenses.

The problem of tightening control arose from numerous complaints from citizens about noise in yards and cars with loud exhausts, especially in large cities. Thus, in Kyiv, an initiative for more thorough control over such violations has already been supported, due to the indignation caused by cases of drifting in the city center.

Experts in the automotive sector note that unusual exhausts are becoming a source of inconvenience in cities. During martial law, this issue is exacerbated, as loud engine sounds can cause alarming associations with the sounds of drones.

According to the new regulations, drivers who violate the rules will face fines:

17,000 UAH for the first violation, including the use of a loud exhaust or illegal modification of the car;

34,000 UAH and deprivation of rights for up to 6 months for a repeated violation within a year.

Additionally, it is planned to grant law enforcement officers greater authority to inspect vehicles and actively patrol areas where such violations are most frequently observed.

The draft law is currently under discussion. However, drivers with modified cars are warned not to postpone visits to services, as the severity of inspections and sanctions may come very quickly. Control will be tightened in the coming months, and the risk of losing both finances and driving licenses will pose a real threat.
