Olga Makogonyuk, head of the Odesa International Airport, is suspected of causing losses in the amount of 15.6 million hryvnias

The head of the municipal enterprise “Odesa International Airport” has been officially suspected of abuse of office. The investigation believes that Olga Makogonyuk’s actions resulted in losses for the territorial community in excess of 15 million hryvnias. In accordance with the order of the Deputy Prosecutor General – Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, the suspicion was handed over to the official.

Investigating the situation, the investigation established that by the end of 2020, the municipal enterprise, which was engaged in servicing the “Odesa” airfield, received profit from the provision of key services, in particular, servicing aircraft takeoffs and landings, as well as the provision of parking, which exceeded the standards. This activity was the primary focus for the enterprise and aimed to ensure the well-being of the Odessa community.

However, according to NABU detectives and SAPO prosecutors, in 2020, the acting general director failed to take the necessary measures to preserve the status of the municipal enterprise as an airfield operator, and instead facilitated the transfer of these functions to a private company. As a result, the enterprise lost the opportunity to provide services and, accordingly, received no income, which began to benefit private businesses from the beginning of 2021.

According to the investigation, as a result of her actions and inaction, the suspect caused the municipal enterprise a loss of 15.6 million hryvnias. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway, and the authorities are considering the issue of a preventive measure for the suspect.
