Part-time work abroad: which countries offer the highest salaries to students

Europe attracts Ukrainian students with the opportunity to combine study with work.

Young people from Ukraine are increasingly choosing European countries for their studies. This is explained not only by the quality of education, but also by the opportunity to work part-time. For many students in Ukraine, scholarships are insufficient to cover living expenses, especially in large cities. It is worth noting that employment conditions vary significantly depending on the country; in some cases, it is possible to work without special permits, while in other cases, young people face bureaucratic difficulties.

In countries such as France, Poland, Sweden, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, a valid student card is often sufficient for securing official employment. This dramatically simplifies the process for those who plan to work, for example, as a waiter, cashier, or support worker.

However, in Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, and Cyprus, it is mandatory to obtain a special permit, even if the student has already found a job and is ready to start working.

Regarding the limit on working hours during studies, in many European countries, it is 20 hours per week. However, there are exceptions: in the Netherlands, the working week is 16 hours, and in Luxembourg, it is only 15 hours. During the holidays, these restrictions are lifted, which allows students to work full-time and save money for the next semester.

The situation with wages also varies significantly. For example, in Bulgaria and Hungary, students can earn approximately 3-4 euros per hour, whereas in Luxembourg or Iceland, the average rate is 17-19 euros. In France and Germany, it fluctuates around 10-12 euros. This indicates that in the UK, a student can earn over £1,000 per month, while in Italy, these amounts are only around €600-€700.

When choosing a country to study, Ukrainian youth consider not only salaries but also the cost of housing, the level of education, and the opportunities for staying after receiving a diploma. Therefore, Germany, France, and the UK remain among the most popular destinations among students, as they offer both prestigious education and promising prospects.
