Pension will increase by 2300 UAH: who should expect an improvement in their financial situation?
Starting in 2026, changes are planned in pension provision in Ukraine. According to the Budget Declaration, the minimum pension will increase from 2,361 hryvnia to 2,595 hryvnia, and the maximum payment will increase by 2,340 hryvnia.
Recall that in our country, there is a rule according to which the pension cannot exceed ten subsistence minimums. However, retired judges and persons who have achieved the abolition of this restriction through the court may receive higher payments.
Although the minimum pension will now be 2,595 hryvnia, this amount is significantly lower than the real subsistence minimum for disabled persons, which currently exceeds 7,000 hryvnia. This means that pensioners with minimum payments will continue to experience financial difficulties.
No changes will affect the pension calculation formula, which is based on three main components: the length of insurance experience, the size of the individual’s salary, and the average wage in Ukraine over the past three years. For example, if the average salary for this period was 15,057.09 hryvnias, then the pension for a person with 35 years of experience could be about 5,269.9 hryvnias. If the wage were twice the average, the pension could reach about 10,539.9 hryvnias.
Thus, despite a slight increase in minimum pensions, the real level of support for many Ukrainian pensioners remains unsatisfactory.
