Shapran, who was recently released on low bail, is linked to the case of pressure on Siumar
People’s Deputy Viktoriya Siumar spoke about an attempt at pressure from a group of young people who appeared outside her cooperative in late September. They were holding empty cardboard boxes, and the police who arrived on the call recorded the car from which the surveillance was conducted. After taking photos, the “participants of the action” were taken away. Siumar considers these actions to be psychological pressure and intends to contact law enforcement agencies to identify the customers.
In her message, she noted that they recorded a car from which photo and video surveillance was conducted. According to Siumar, these actions indicate attempts at psychological pressure, for this reason she plans to contact law enforcement.
According to the organization “StopKor”, the organizer of the action could be Serhiy Shapran, a defendant in the case of illegal sand mining, who was recently released on bail of 5 million UAH after being arrested on suspicion of misappropriating assets worth about a billion UAH. The action appears to have been coordinated by Andriy Derenivskyi, who has intermediary companies dealing with the assets of Russian businessman Igor Naumets.
These assets, in particular the Unigran company, are engaged in mineral extraction in the Zhytomyr region and were acquired by Shapran after the imposition of sanctions on Naumets. Derenivskyi may be acting as a front person for Shapran, who is one of the key players in sand mining in the Kyiv region, which law enforcement agencies control.
Shapran has previously been in pre-trial detention for attempting to illegally cross the border and suspected of colluding with Naumets to misappropriate assets, but was released on bail. StopKor reports that the organization of the action with the cardboard boxes could have been an attempt to exert psychological pressure on the MP, and law enforcement is already checking the involvement of all those involved and their connections with Shapran’s business structures.
Despite the investigation and court proceedings, Shapran’s enterprises continue their activities. StopKor journalists have repeatedly recorded the removal of sand from the site in Pukhovka, which belongs to his business. Observations show that dozens of trucks with sand leave the territory of the enterprise “Budindustria-Service LTD”, which indicates the continuity of extraction.
In addition, in the Zhytomyr region, the tile factory “UNI LUX”, which also belongs to Shapran’s business, continues to operate despite the seizure of property.
