A nutritionist pointed out the most dangerous habits of Ukrainians that are in everyone’s diet
Many Ukrainians consider their menus to be balanced, but in reality their daily eating habits increasingly resemble the “Western” model, which increases the risk of serious diseases. Nutritionist Oleg Shvets reported this.
The expert notes that Ukrainian cuisine is balanced from the very beginning and contains all the necessary products. It includes a variety of vegetables, fruits, berries, cereals, nuts, seeds, eggs, fish, meat, as well as dairy products. That is why it can be considered quite nutritious.
However, according to the nutritionist, the main problem lies in the choice of specific products and their consumption. It is these factors that determine how healthy a particular person’s diet will be.
Commenting on the widespread statement that Ukrainian cuisine is “difficult” for digestion, Shvets emphasized that this is a myth. “Food becomes heavy only when you overeat. The statement that dumplings are heavier for the stomach than oatmeal with milk is not entirely correct. It all depends on the amount of food consumed,” he added.
The nutritionist also drew attention to the fact that Ukrainians, like other countries, often consume processed foods. For example, wheat is used to make high-grade flour, from which white bread is made. During its production, beneficial dietary fiber is lost along with added sugar and salt.
Shvets emphasized that choosing whole-grain cereals would significantly improve the diet. A similar situation is observed in other food groups: many people eat less meat, but more sausage, or adhere to a lower consumption of traditional dairy products against the background of eating more desserts.
He also called excessive consumption of sugar and salt a grave mistake in the diet of modern Ukrainians.
