The magnetic storm that began in late September is gradually subsiding.
According to the British Geological Survey, the impact of the coronal hole observed last week is now decreasing, and geomagnetic activity is returning to normal levels.
On October 3, two slow coronal mass ejections occurred on the Sun, which could reach Earth around October 7, although the probability of this is low. If they arrive, a weak G1-level magnetic storm is possible.
Magnetic storms are disturbances in the Earth’s magnetic field that arise from activity on the Sun. Powerful solar flares and coronal plasma ejections reach Earth in a few days, interacting with the magnetosphere. These phenomena can last from a few hours to several days and vary in intensity.
Magnetic storms affect not only technical systems, but also people. During intense solar activity, there may be disruptions in communications, navigation, power grids, and satellite accuracy. The body reacts differently: some people may experience headaches, fatigue, changes in blood pressure, or sleep disturbances. People with chronic cardiovascular diseases are especially sensitive.
