A scheme for the illegal transportation of conscripts to Romania was uncovered in Dnipro
In Dnipro, law enforcement agencies detained suspects in an attempt to illegally smuggle conscripts across the border. The duo, a man and a woman, demanded 13,000 US dollars in exchange for safe passage to Romania.
The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported the suspects on suspicion of a crime falling under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – organizing the illegal smuggling of persons across the state border.
The investigation believes that these individuals established an illegal channel for the departure of conscripts through the Odessa region, offering clients “full support” to Romania. They also promised to eliminate all possible obstacles, including temporarily turning off video surveillance systems on the border strip.
Law enforcement officers detained the suspects after receiving 13 thousand US dollars. During the searches, cash, mobile devices, and recordings were found, which may serve as evidence in the case.
The investigation is ongoing, and the possible accomplices of the detainees are currently being identified, as is the number of people who may have used this scheme. The suspects were remanded in custody with the possibility of posting bail.
In addition, a 33-year-old woman from Vinnytsia will stand trial for smuggling cars that were imported across the customs border while hiding from control. The accused did not send the vehicles to the front; instead, they sold them online for cash.
