This can include replacing headlights with brighter ones, installing new batteries, and other components. However, it is worth remembering that not all modifications are safe or legal.

Auto mechanic Igor K. notes that any intervention in a car’s design without the manufacturer’s consultation can pose serious risks. “In the worst case, this can threaten the lives of the driver and passengers,” the specialist adds. In addition to technical problems, drivers can face financial consequences, as police actively enforce the rules.

One of the most common mistakes is the illegal replacement of standard headlights. Although xenon and halogen lamps provide brighter light, their installation, if not provided by the manufacturer, is unlawful. For such actions, drivers may face fines of up to 510 hryvnias, and in case of repeated violations, a mandatory technical examination of the car.

Another common myth is that replacing the battery with a smaller capacity one can be profitable. Electrical engineer Oleksandr G. explains that the battery operates on the same principle as the car’s energy consumption: a smaller battery discharges faster, which can lead to electronic failures. Thus, saving on the battery may be economically unprofitable, leading to additional repair costs.

Experts strongly recommend coordinating any modifications to the car with the manufacturer or an authorized service. Otherwise, instead of the desired safety and comfort, drivers may face fines, technical problems, and additional costs.

Drivers are also advised to carefully study information about permitted modifications and avoid information from forums or unqualified sources. Even minor changes to the electrical system or lighting can significantly affect the vehicle’s performance and, in some cases, driver safety.
