The host of “Vikna-novyny” shared the secrets of keeping calm during the war
Tetyana Vysotska, host of the “News Windows” program on the STB TV channel, is celebrating 20 years in television. During these two decades, she and the audience experienced many significant events in the history of Ukraine, including the Revolution of Dignity, the annexation of Crimea, and a full-scale war.
Vysotska notes that during the Maidan, she learned endurance under challenging conditions. She emphasizes that the war taught her to remain emotionally calm and to cover tragedies without excessive dramatization.
“I am inspired when people say that even in the most difficult times, I help them keep calm. I consider it my mission to be strong, but without too much pathos,” the host shares.
After the broadcasts, Tatyana engages in sadotherapy, which has become a way of recovery for her. She earned a diploma in horticulture and defended her master’s thesis on a therapeutic garden designed according to permaculture principles. “At all times, we are traumatized by war. The garden helps us find harmony. It is enough to look around, listen to the birds, and breathe in nature,” says Vysotska.
Garden therapy became a new professional activity for her. She draws inspiration from the British experience, in particular from Sue Stewart-Smith’s book Garden Therapy. How to get rid of weeds in your head.
Tatyana is also working on the author’s project, “#Kherson Voices”, which tells the stories of people from the Kherson region who survived the occupation and its losses but did not lose faith in Ukraine. This series of works received recognition in the form of a letter from the Verkhovna Rada.
“These stories document the war. The voices of people from the occupied territories must be heard on the air, so that they know that we have not forgotten them,” the presenter notes.
In addition, Tatyana is engaged in the “DNA.Svoy” project, which she considers the most difficult in her life. “This scale of pain is hard to bear. But that’s why it’s important to find a balance — to be useful and not burn out,” she says.
As part of her professional activity, Tetiana also teaches a media training course at the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. She helps students overcome the fear of public speaking, a subject of her book “You are on the air!”
“It is a great honor for me to pass on the accumulated experience. Everyone has the right to their voice – the main thing is that they should not be afraid to hear it,” adds Vysotska.
