In Russia, fires spread from fields to residential areas

Large-scale fires broke out in the Kemerovo region of Russia on November 1 due to strong storm winds. The fire spread over tens of thousands of square meters, threatening residential areas.

On the same day, large landscape fires broke out in several areas of Kuzbass. According to local media, the fire is attributed to hot, dry weather and strong wind gusts up to 25 m/s. The flames spread quickly, approaching residential buildings.

The largest fires were recorded near Guryevsk, Yurga, Belov, Polysayev, and Kamyanka. Witnesses shared videos on social networks, showing how the fire moved towards residential buildings.

In the village of Novopesterevo, Guryev district, several power lines were damaged by the fire, resulting in a temporary power outage in several settlements. Recovery work continues in Sosnovka and other affected areas.

In Kemerovo, all emergency services have been put on high alert.

In Yurga, the fire covered more than 23,000 square meters, but rescuers contained it and prevented it from approaching residential buildings. The elimination of the fire sources continues.

According to weather forecasters, the weather will remain difficult: strong gusts of wind, wet snow, and ice are expected.
