Опалювальний сезон затримується: 7 способів, які допоможуть утеплити вашу квартиру та заощадити тисячі гривень

The heating season is delayed: 7 ways to help insulate your apartment and save thousands of hryvnias

There is a debate in Ukraine about the heating season: apartment buildings still lack heating, and the impact on the energy infrastructure may further prolong this situation.

However, there are ways to keep warm, as our ancestors did. Here are seven proven methods that can help you in this challenging situation, and everything you need is already at hand.

  1. Newspapers for window insulation: efficiency at zero cost
In the old days, newspapers were used to protect against cold air: they were soaked, twisted into bundles, and inserted into the gaps between the windows. Do not forget to close all the upper joints – it works just as well as modern insulation.
  2. Carpet on the wall: warmth and comfort
Also, to add warmth to the house, you can hang a thick carpet on the walls. This is not just an element of decor – it creates an additional insulating layer that retains the cold.
  3. Foil behind the radiator: reflect heat
Wrap a piece of cardboard in foil, shiny side out, and place it behind the radiator. This helps reflect heat into the room, raising the temperature by a couple of degrees and reducing energy costs.
  4. Cotton wool and foam rubber: universal insulation
If newspapers seem ineffective, use technical cotton wool or old foam rubber to fill the gaps. These materials can often be found on hand or bought for a small price.
  5. Thick curtains and drapes: protection against drafts
Using thick curtains can retain up to 15% of heat. It is only important not to cover the radiator, but to close it entirely in the evening. It is also a good idea to use blankets or bedspreads to insulate the front door.
  6. Door rollers and seals: fight the cold
Gaps under doors can be a significant source of cold. Try making old rollers filled with cotton wool or sand, and install seals on the doors.
  7. Warm floors in the Soviet style: carpets and rugs
Although people only dreamed of floor heating back then, they knew how to keep their feet warm using carpets and rugs. You can also put old blankets or cardboard under the rugs.

It is also worth noting that the procedure for paying for gas was simplified for Ukrainians, and violations in utility bills were recorded, which accounted for 93% of bills.
