Two lions escaped from a rehabilitation center in Khmelnytskyi region

In the Khmelnytskyi region, two lions escaped from the territory of a rehabilitation center for wild fauna, likely due to deliberate damage to the enclosure locks by unknown persons.

An extraordinary event occurred at the rehabilitation center in Khmelnytskyi: two lions escaped from their enclosures. According to the head of the institution, Serhiy Palyokhin, unknown persons broke the locks on the enclosure doors, allowing the animals to escape.

“When I arrived in the morning, I discovered that the locks were damaged. This was the reason for the lions’ escape,” he said.

The center’s employees quickly found the first predator and returned it to a safe room. The second lion is still at large, and its whereabouts are still being established.

According to the State Emergency Service of the Khmelnytskyi region, a drone unit will be involved in the search operation. The use of drones will allow for a more effective survey of the area and increase the likelihood of detecting the animal quickly.

Rescuers urge residents to be cautious, avoid suspicious areas, and to immediately seek help if they find signs of a predator.

The UAnimals organization recently appealed to the police and the State Environmental Inspectorate regarding the improper keeping of animals at the Odessa Zoo. Animal rights activists report that the animals are kept in terrible conditions at the facility – numerous photos and videos are circulating, showing weak, sick, and even dead animals.
