There will be no more abnormal winters: forecasters have announced when to expect the strongest frosts

Rumors about the possible coldest winter in a decade are increasingly appearing on social media. However, Ukrainian meteorologists advise against rushing to conclusions and against panic. According to experts, long-term weather forecasts only indicate general trends, not precise data.

Natalia Ptukha, a forecaster at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, emphasized during a telethon that forecast accuracy is only possible for 5–7 days. Forecasts for two to three weeks can cover general climate changes, but specific temperatures often change.

According to experts, there is currently no reason to believe that Ukraine will soon experience record-breaking frosts. In November, there is traditionally a shift in weather systems, so sharp temperature fluctuations are common during this period.

According to forecasts from the Hydrometeorological Center, significant cooling is expected in mid-November, and in some regions, the first snow may fall. Still, its cover will be temporary and quickly melt. The transition to stable winter weather is likely to occur in December, although the exact dates are not yet known.

Warm air masses are currently arriving in Ukraine from the south, raising temperatures above long-term averages, but meteorologists emphasize that this is not an anomaly. Ptukh noted that the media often spread alarming forecasts for long periods. However, sharp temperature fluctuations in November are normal.

Let us recall that Ukraine is soon to be threatened by snowfall and a drop in temperature to -12 degrees. Earlier, it was reported that freezing rain and blizzards were possible, and forecasters outlined the weather for November 2025.
