Kolomoisky files lawsuit against StopCor over broadcast of Prosecutor General’s briefing

Ihor Kolomoiskyi is back in court, this time in an unusual status for him. On November 14, at 10:00, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv, presided over by Judge Yulia Savchuk, began a hearing in the case where the oligarch filed a lawsuit against the Prosecutor General’s Office, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko, as well as the online publication “Stop Corruption TV” to protect his “honor, dignity and business reputation”.

Kolomoiskyi appeared in court directly from the pre-trial detention center. The “Stop Corruption TV” film crew, which provided online coverage of the events, was also present at the hearing.

What is the essence of the lawsuit?

Let us recall that Ihor Kolomoiskyi filed a lawsuit against the Prosecutor General’s Office, “Stop Corruption TV,” and Ruslan Kravchenko. His representatives claim that the information announced during the Prosecutor General’s briefing damaged the businessman’s reputation.

During a previous briefing broadcast on air, Ruslan Kravchenko reported on an investigation in which Kolomoisky appears as the organizer of a criminal financial scheme. The NABU and the Bureau of Economic Security also revealed mechanisms that allowed a group of individuals associated with the businessman to conduct transactions with forged bank documents.

Law enforcement officers indicated that the group members forged documents intended to confirm the deposit of cash into the bank on behalf of Kolomoisky, after which they simulated a collection to prove that more than 5.3 billion hryvnias had been deposited into the businessman’s account.

This lawsuit against the media looks strange, since Stop Corruption TV LLC only rebroadcasts information from the public briefing, and is not the source of the data presented.

What happened at the court hearing?

At the beginning of the hearing, Kolomoisky’s representative filed a response to “Stop Corruption TV” ‘s appeal and a motion to add evidence to the case. In this motion, they requested the addition of documents related to criminal proceedings, citing a need to familiarize themselves with the case materials in the UCP appeal.

Kolomoisky’s representatives noted that the appeal of the Prosecutor General’s Office concerns criminal proceedings, which, in their opinion, provides confirmation of the claims made by the plaintiff.

Meanwhile, in response to the lawyer’s request, the SAPO stated that no grounds were found to grant Kolomoisky the status of a person whose rights may be restricted during the pre-trial investigation of the aforementioned criminal cases.

Court decision

The Shevchenkivskyi court rejected Kolomoisky’s request for additional evidence and continued consideration of the case without it. Kolomoisky also announced his intention to file a criminal complaint regarding the alleged falsification of the defendant’s expert’s report.

In addition, the court granted the defendant’s request to involve a third party in the case, the media outlet “Suspilne”. The court session was concluded, with a recess scheduled for February 5, 2026, at 10:00.
