Pensions will be reduced in Ukraine: who will receive lower payments and by how much

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a new law that limits pension payments for specific categories of individuals. Now, pensions for those convicted of collaborationism cannot exceed the minimum amount, which is currently 2,361 hryvnias. This rule applies to people who have been convicted of treason, espionage, collaboration with the enemy, and other serious offenses related to the undermining of territorial integrity.

After serving their sentence, individuals will be able to restore their pension rights, but under general conditions. This means that amounts not paid during imprisonment will not be compensated; the pension will be accrued under the same restrictions as before.

These provisions also cover individuals held accountable for high treason, aiding an aggressor, sabotage, and actions aimed at obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, these changes will affect civil servants, prosecutors, and military personnel. After such persons have served their sentences, they lose the right to receive special pensions.

This bill aims to strengthen national security and law and order in the state, especially amid military threats.
