Основні події 9 листопада: 700 грн доплати пенсіонерам, значні відключення світла та безкоштовний проїзд у метро для всіх

Main events of November 9: UAH 700 supplement for pensioners, significant power outages, and free metro travel for everyone

An initiative is emerging in Kyiv to introduce free subway travel until the end of martial law. The Kyiv City Council deputy who made this proposal emphasizes the importance of supporting Kyiv residents and visitors to the capital amid the economic crisis. According to information, the Kyiv Metro is experiencing severe financial difficulties: in the first half of 2025, the company suffered losses of 2.6 billion hryvnias on income of only 830 million. The result is that expenses exceed revenues, and the metro operates primarily on city budget subsidies.

Meanwhile, Ukrainians who have significantly longer pensionable service can receive bonuses for insurance service. The Pension Fund of Ukraine states that an increase in length of service and late filing of a pension application contribute to higher payments. The bonus for years of service after reaching retirement age is 1% of the subsistence minimum for non-working persons, but this amount has a maximum limit.

Problems with the electricity supply also remain relevant. Ukrainians are increasingly facing unforeseen changes to electricity outage schedules. Sometimes electricity is unexpectedly turned off, which complicates everyday life. Energy professionals, in turn, claim that these adjustments are necessary due to the state of the power system. According to the company, the outage schedule is prepared under the supervision of NPC Ukrenergo and can change in real time based on network load.

Many pensioners in Ukraine receive smaller pensions than provided for by law. The reasons for this can be both technical errors and the incorrect application of the law’s norms. Pension law lawyer Andriy Dzis emphasizes that such situations are not uncommon, as many people request corrections of calculation errors. Problems often arise from missed service periods or errors in calculating income before 2000.

Military circles also actively discuss each family’s contribution to the defense of the state. Former MP Tetyana Chornovol explained that she decided to remain in the army so that her children would not end up at the front. She is convinced that in difficult times, every family should contribute to the defense of the country, but refuses to allow children to go into combat. At the same time, they have the opportunity to fight their own battles. Chornovol emphasizes that her role in the military makes her family’s concern about the safety of her children on the front lines less worrisome.
