Zelensky accepted strict conditions for signing the US peace plan
Ukraine initiates consultations with the US on a new peace plan that offers significant concessions to Moscow.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll, during which they discussed the development of a strategic document prepared by former President Donald Trump’s team. Axios reported this, citing government sources.
The proposals include clauses requiring significant concessions from the Ukrainian side, including the possible transfer of part of the territories currently under Ukrainian control. Despite these risks, Zelensky did not reject the plan and confirmed his readiness to discuss it. The President’s office noted that the Ukrainian side hopes to meet with Trump in the coming days to discuss the details.
According to one Ukrainian official, during the meeting, Driscoll gave Zelensky a written version of the document, and the US insists on its swift implementation. One of the American representatives said that Zelenskyi and Driscoll agreed on strict deadlines for signing.
In his Telegram post, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is open to productive, honest, and prompt work. Formats of interaction, stages of action, and strengthening of diplomatic efforts were discussed.
The upbeat mood of the negotiations was confirmed by the US Ambassador to Ukraine Julie Davis, noting: “Today, the US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and I had constructive negotiations with the Ukrainian leadership – everyone shares President Trump’s vision of ending the war. The situation is finally in favor of the peace that Ukrainians have been waiting for so long.”
Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with Driscoll and several American generals, with the meeting held in an extended format, and Rustem Umyerov was also in attendance.
