An accident at a substation in France led to a blackout in 170,000 homes

Early in the morning in the southwestern part of Paris, an electrical substation accident led to large-scale blackouts across the capital. Whole blocks were left without electricity, and public transport temporarily stopped its work.

On November 20 at 5:38 a.m., a serious technical fault occurred at the electrical substation in Issy-les-Moulineaux. As a result, about 170,000 households were left without electricity. Due to power outages, some subway lines and suburban trains were not operational, and traffic lights and street lighting were delayed. Local news agencies reported on the incident.

The operator of high-voltage lines, RTE, reported that within 5 minutes, it could restore power to 112,000 consumers in the capital and suburbs. However, about 2,600 homes remained without electricity for about an hour after the accident.

Enedis reported that power restoration in the affected areas was planned to be completed by 8:00 a.m. local time. Although the cause of the accident has not yet been determined, company representatives confirmed that it was a technical problem at the substation.

According to French media reports, the blackout affected not only Paris but also the neighboring department of Haute-de-Seine, where about 55,000 households were left without electricity. Despite the rapid restoration of the main supply, some areas remained without electricity for several more hours.

As a result of this incident, public transport was partially paralyzed. Several subway lines and suburban trains were not running, causing delays for passengers.
