Explosion on Druzhba: intelligence reports on the explosion of an oil pipeline near Kazynske Vysilki

On the first night of winter in Russia, an explosion occurred on the Druzhba oil pipeline, through which Russian oil continues to be transported to some European countries. This route remains an essential source of income for Russia, despite the sanctions imposed.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the explosion occurred near the village of Kazinsky Vysilky on the Taganrog-Lipetsk route. The attack was carried out using explosives with remote detonation, as well as special combustible mixtures to enhance the effect of ignition and destruction of the pipeline.

This section is part of the system through which Russia exports oil to the EU. The Druzhba oil pipeline remains a key tool in Russian energy exports.

In 2025, this is not the first incident with Druzhba facilities. In August, the Nikolskoye station in the Tambov region and the Unecha station in the Bryansk region were damaged, temporarily halting pumping. After a series of attacks, including the use of HIMARS, Russia recorded long-term disruptions in the functioning of the oil pipeline. The Ukrainian side links these attacks to economic pressure on the aggressor: most attacks on energy facilities in 2025 concerned refineries and fuel depots.

Damage to key sections of the Druzhba pipeline leads to fuel shortages in Russia, complicates logistics for the occupiers near the border, and periodically complicates exports to Europe. This causes resentment among Hungary and Slovakia, which are most dependent on Russian supplies. While these events may have a short-term impact on Europe, they also encourage the search for alternative energy sources.

For Ukraine, such pipeline explosions are of strategic importance: they weaken the Russian military, put pressure on the Russian economy, and create additional opportunities on the international stage.

Let us recall that on the evening of November 16, a thermal power plant in Oryol was damaged by explosions. In the Kursk region, a drone probably hit a military enterprise.
