The Council voiced its position on the mobilization of women: this issue requires further discussion

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine may discuss the initiation of the forced mobilization of women. This was emphasized by Yana Zinkevich, a deputy from the “European Solidarity,” in an interview with the “Telegraph” newspaper.

Zinkevich expressed her confidence that a return to the topic of women’s mobilization is inevitable, and she supports this idea. In her opinion, when making such a decision, it is necessary to take into account individual circumstances, including the number of children, their ages, and family situations. “This issue should be the focus of attention in the future,” she noted.

The deputy recalled that she herself went to the front in 2014, when she was 18 years old, and served successfully, noting that all her acquaintances – women and men – are also fighting or have fought. Women’s service in 2025 and in 2014 had different conditions. Then there were no proper conditions for them: the inability to occupy combat positions, limited awareness of the rights of the military, and many other factors,” she emphasized.

At the same time, the deputy assured that by the end of the year, the issue of women’s mobilization will not be considered in the Rada. However, parliamentarians may return to this issue in the future.

We recall that currently, the mobilization of women in Ukraine is voluntary, except for medical workers and pharmacists, who are required to register for military service and undergo a medical commission by the end of 2026. However, conscription occurs only with their consent. Women can occupy both rear and combat positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
