10 months without electricity. Who is preventing a standard connection in the Chernivtsi region?
In the village of Velykyi Kuchuriv, Chernivtsi region, residents of 38 townhouses have been without electricity for more than ten months. Despite completing all necessary procedures and paying for the standard connection, the connection to the electricity grid has not been established.
Residents have repeatedly appealed to the relevant authorities, filed applications, and provided the necessary documents, but their efforts have not yielded results: their houses remain without electricity.
The situation is complicated by the developer’s inactivity, who is currently in detention. Residents suspect that there may have been informal agreements between the developer and JSC “Chernivtsioblenergo”, the absence of which has been officially confirmed.
A transformer has been installed on the territory, but its legal status remains uncertain. It is not registered with any institution and does not appear in official documents. Residents have not received a single document confirming its legality.
The lack of individual contracts for connecting to the electricity supply is also a cause for concern. Instead, consumers receive only general and legally unconfirmed responses. Their personal accounts in the system do not contain any helpful information about the technical conditions or the status of their applications.
Even so, residents continue to submit applications, send documents, and personally visit institutions, receiving only verbal explanations. One representative of the regional energy company claimed that residents allegedly refused to connect, although there is no official confirmation of this.
A separate indignant reaction was caused by the statement made in response to the application: “If you had not written everywhere, the light could have been faster.” Residents perceived this as pressure to protect their rights.
Earlier, there were promises to connect to electricity by the New Year, but no action was taken. Due to the prolonged inaction, people planned to hold a peaceful protest near the regional administration. Still, after leadership changes, they decided to postpone the event until after the holidays.
Against the backdrop of these events, the key question remains: how long will residents live without electricity?
Residents consider this situation not only a disregard for their rights, but also a deliberate delay in the process.
The public organization “Stop Corruption” has documented this problem and already submitted an official request to JSC “Chernivtsioblenergo”.
Society expects specific answers: who is responsible for using the transformer without proper accounting; on what grounds are residents’ statements of refusal made if the relevant documents are missing; why are individual contracts not concluded; why do consumer electronic systems not contain any information?
The most important question: who is personally responsible for the fact that dozens of families have been living without electricity for more than ten months?
This is not a simple conflict, but a serious social problem that requires an urgent response from the state, anti-corruption structures, and the media.
