Unfit for the military – fit for the court? Judge Mandychev was removed from the register due to “serious illness”, but he continues to perform his duties
Judge of the Economic Court of Kyiv, Denis Mandychev, obtained an exemption from military registration at the beginning of the Russian invasion, citing serious health problems. Nevertheless, he continues to perform his duties in court.
This information was confirmed by Lenta.UA, which reported the Military Medical Commission’s (MMC) decision. The judge was removed from military registration on March 14, 2022, while the Ukrainian military heroically fought the aggressors near Kyiv. The document obtained by journalists states that the reason for the exclusion was a severe form of hypertension.
The media are questioning the judge’s ability to administer justice under such conditions. They emphasize the need to verify the conclusions of the MMC and CCC, as well as Mandychev’s integrity, recalling that the prosecutor’s office is currently conducting checks into similar cases and that there are already consequences for those who abused the system.
In addition, Mandychev is associated with a circle of controversial judges, including Viktor Tatkov, who is wanted, and Artur Yemelyanov, who is suspected of several criminal offenses, including cooperation with Russian services. Yemelyanov has problems with the law, in particular regarding illegal enrichment, which also attracts journalists’ attention.
